What is changing, and where agents pay off.
Portugal approved its National Artificial Intelligence Agenda (ANIA) and a 2026-2030 action plan in January 2026, replacing the earlier AI Portugal 2030 strategy. The agenda is explicit that AI is meant to lift productivity, which it notes sits at around 75 percent of the EU average, and it organises 32 initiatives around infrastructure, adoption, talent and responsibility. The CNPD remains the regulator that most shapes how companies handle personal data in AI projects.
The work that pays off in Portugal is in service-heavy sectors: hotel and travel groups handling bookings and guest questions in Portuguese, English and Spanish; shared service centres processing invoices and tickets for international parents; retailers and banks preparing customer files for a human decision. Do your agents work in Portuguese?
Yes. We build and test in European Portuguese and English, and can add Brazilian Portuguese or Spanish where your customers need them. Portuguese speakers on your team review outputs before launch, and evaluation sets are kept per language and variant so quality is measured, not assumed.
How do you work with the time difference?
Portugal is four hours behind our team in summer and five in winter. We schedule stand-ups and demos between 9am and 1pm Portuguese time, stay reachable on Slack or Teams into your afternoon, and deliver written updates and recorded demos so nothing waits for a meeting.
Where is our data processed?
Inside your own cloud account in an EU region, with model providers offering EU data residency that do not train on your data. We sign a GDPR data processing agreement before scoping and design to the CNPD’s expectations under Law 58/2019 on purpose, minimisation and transparency.
