02 / AI in Chicago

Where AI agents pay off in Chicago.

Chicago’s economy is built on industries that run on documents, schedules and margins: derivatives and trading, insurance, freight and rail logistics, food and consumer goods, manufacturing and large health systems. That makes it fertile ground for agents that read shipping paperwork, reconcile invoices, triage claims and prepare reports, as long as they plug into the ERP, TMS or policy systems already in place. We build those integrations as carefully as the AI itself.

Illinois has some of the strictest rules in the US on biometric and employment data. The Biometric Information Privacy Act requires informed written consent before collecting fingerprints, face geometry or voiceprints, so we avoid biometric identifiers in voice and video projects unless consent and retention policies are in place. Since 1 January 2026, amendments to the Illinois Human Rights Act from HB 3773 also make it a civil rights violation to use AI that discriminates in recruitment, hiring, promotion or discipline, and require employers to give notice when they use AI for those decisions.

we design for

  • Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA)
  • Illinois Human Rights Act amendments on AI in employment (HB 3773), in effect since 1 January 2026
  • NIST AI Risk Management Framework, with HIPAA-aware design and SOC 2 alignment where required

We are engineers, not lawyers. We build to these frameworks and work with your legal and compliance teams on the final review.

05 / FAQ

Questions from Chicago teams.

What hours do you overlap with Chicago?

Our team is ten to eleven hours ahead of Central time, so we work live with Chicago in your morning, typically from 8am to around 11am Central. Outside that window we work asynchronously with written updates and recorded demos, and urgent issues are handled through an agreed escalation channel.

Our voice assistant would record calls. What about BIPA?

Recording and transcribing a call is different from creating a voiceprint to identify someone, which BIPA treats as a biometric identifier. We design voice systems without speaker identification by default. If you need it, your counsel sets the written consent and retention policy before any biometric data is collected.

Can you integrate an AI agent with our ERP or TMS?

Yes. Most of our Chicago-style projects are integration work: reading documents, then writing results into SAP, NetSuite, Dynamics, McLeod or similar systems through their APIs, with a person approving changes until the agent has earned more autonomy.

We want AI help with recruiting. What does Illinois require?

Under the Illinois Human Rights Act amendments, employers must notify employees and applicants when AI is used for decisions such as hiring or promotion, and must not use AI that has a discriminatory effect, including using zip codes as a proxy for protected classes. We build screening support that excludes proxy features, logs its outputs for review and leaves the decision with a person.
