02 / AI in San Francisco

Where AI agents pay off in San Francisco.

Bay Area companies rarely need convincing about AI. What they need is engineering capacity: a team that can build the agent integration, retrieval pipeline, evaluation harness or internal tool that is sitting in the backlog while the core team works on the product. We slot into your stack, your repositories and your review process, write tests and evals alongside the code, and hand over everything with documentation so your engineers can own it afterwards.

California has the most developed privacy and AI rules in the country, and Bay Area customers and investors ask about them. The California Privacy Protection Agency’s regulations on automated decisionmaking technology took effect on 1 January 2026, with notice and opt-out duties for significant decisions applying from 1 January 2027. Since 1 October 2025, California Civil Rights Council regulations also treat discrimination through automated decision systems in hiring and employment as a violation of the Fair Employment and Housing Act. We design for both: documented decision logic, risk assessment inputs, retained records and human review where an agent affects a person.

we design for

  • CCPA as amended by the CPRA, and the CPPA regulations on automated decisionmaking technology (in effect from 1 January 2026, significant-decision duties from 1 January 2027)
  • California Civil Rights Council regulations on automated decision systems in employment under FEHA (in effect since 1 October 2025)
  • NIST AI Risk Management Framework and SOC 2 alignment, with HIPAA-aware design for health-tech teams

We are engineers, not lawyers. We build to these frameworks and work with your legal and compliance teams on the final review.

05 / FAQ

Questions from San Francisco teams.

How do you handle the time difference with Pacific time?

Honestly: live overlap with the West Coast is limited. Our team is twelve to thirteen hours ahead of Pacific time, so we hold calls in your early morning or late evening by arrangement and keep the rest asynchronous, with daily written updates, pull requests ready for review when you start work, and recorded demos. Many Bay Area teams find a full engineering day happening overnight works in their favour.

Can you work inside our existing codebase and review process?

Yes. We work in your repositories, follow your conventions, open pull requests for your engineers to review and add tests and evals alongside features. We use the access you grant and nothing more.

Do the California automated decisionmaking rules apply to our product?

They apply to businesses covered by the CCPA that use automated decisionmaking technology to make significant decisions about consumers, such as access to credit, housing, employment, education or healthcare. Your counsel decides whether you are in scope. We make sure the system can support pre-use notices, opt-outs, access requests and risk assessments if you are.

Who owns the code and model work?

You do. Code, prompts, evaluation sets, fine-tuned weights and documentation are assigned to you by contract, and everything is built in your repositories and cloud account, so nothing needs to be handed back at the end.
