Madrid is where Spain’s banks, insurers, utilities, telecoms and large consultancies keep their head offices, so most AI work here has to survive a procurement process, an information security review and a data protection officer before it reaches a customer. Spain set up AESIA, its AI supervisory agency based in A Coruña, to oversee the EU AI Act, while the AEPD continues to enforce the GDPR and the LOPDGDD. Under the Act, transparency duties such as telling people they are talking to an AI apply from 2 August 2026, and obligations for standalone high-risk systems in areas such as credit scoring, hiring or access to essential services follow from 2 December 2027. We classify each use case against the Act during scoping and build in the documentation, logging and human oversight its category requires.
